This is the 5th year anniversary blog post. Congratulations to us! When I step back and assess how things have gone and look back at the last 5 years - its interesting that the Estate Agency industry has notably and gradually changed. If anything, we were pretty prompt at getting into the lane of change.
This week, I walked into what I would class as one of these larger corporate agencies to collect keys for a flat. The office was quiet and and the one Lettings person who was present jumped on me with a number of questions. Is this your agency? "Wow 5 years, that's really good, is it hard? Is it worth it? Are you making money?". He then went onto moan about how his agency has changed: "ex-director of Foxtons has joined and they are just shaking things up, I work so hard already and now I'm just being pi**ed off". I wan't more, and I deserve more type of conversation. This is a typical example of the first step that this person is maybe taking towards setting up their own agency (they said they so badly wanted to).
In the 5 years that we have been in business, I have seen a noticeable increase in small start up type agencies coming to the market. I would say, now - particularly in this hard Brexit market - it really is a bold move to be making the leap. We at Jeremy Jacob Letting Specialists do feel fortunate that we started when we did. I do passionately believe that we have further benefited from being an expert in Lettings. The small company customer service experience factor has well....been our X factor. We really try and make things as personable and caring as possible. The reason why small works is that the Landlords of along time are very well versed to the "computer says no" attitude of large clunky style estate agents (not to forget the revolving door of staff changes), and they have grown over the years very drained of it all. Many of our Landlord's when we have conducted feedback, say that they love working with us as we just make it easy for them. One Landlord remarked this year that "Jay, the reason is - you spoon feed us. I haven't got time and you make sure we as Landlord's are on top of everything".
We remain thankful to those that recommend our services and support us (word of mouth reputation has been important for us. Thank you for all of the amazing google reviews). We will continue to strive to provide excellent service for our clients and customers over the next 5 years.
